Edison Records Echo All Over the World (Edison Gem Phonograph advertisement, 1900)
Full-page 1900 advertisement from the National Phonograph Company for Edison Records and the improved Gem Phonograph at $10.00, with a globe of cylinders, a portrait of Edison and a trademark warning.

A globe fills most of the upper half of the page, wrapped in a string of cylinders marked Edison Records, with the headline lettered across it and a framed portrait of Edison in the corner under a banner reading Made at the Edison Laboratory. The copy below separates two kinds of listener. It says that 'Ordinary records may perhaps suit him who has the Phonograph temperament' but that Edison Records are for the critical one or for the enthusiast.
The machine is described in a single paragraph. The improved Gem Phonograph is $10.00, mounted on a polished hardwood base, and the price includes a dustproof carrying case, a reproducer and a recorder, each listed as separate. The foot of the page offers eight models from $10.00 up, over Edison's signature and the name of the National Phonograph Company of New York, and warns that none is genuine without the trademark.
