Provenance and takedowns
What this is
An archive of unusual documents, none of them mine. Each is kept with a page of writing about it, and that page names the source and links to it.
Why there is a copy here
Most of these documents sit on one server, paid for by one person or one office. Links to them break.
Each entry is a page about the document: what it is, when it was made, what it contains that the title does not say. The copy is there so the page can refer to it.
What is said about rights
Where a document is in the public domain, the entry says so and says why: a work of the US federal government, a file whose licence record on Wikimedia Commons states it, a work old enough that copyright has expired.
Where the rights belong to someone else, the entry says that instead, and names the holder where the holder is known.
If you want it down
Write to dave@nemock.com and name the document. The local copy comes down.
The page stays: the commentary, the provenance, and a link to your copy. If you would rather the preview image went too, say so.
What this site does not do
It sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Every font, script and image comes from this domain. There is no account to make. The host keeps a server access log, as any host does, and I do not read it.
Crawling
The harvester waits longer between requests than the source sites ask for, reads their robots.txt, and identifies itself with a link back to this page.
